Superyacht Crew Academy and Sydney Maritime Institute become the only independent
maritime training facility within New South Wales to become AMSA-approved CoST STCW
basic safety training providers.

Superyacht Crew Academy (SCA), in partnership with Sydney Maritime Institute (SMI), is pleased to announce the launch of their newly approved AMSA CoST STCW course, becoming the only independently run registered training organization (RTO) to deliver this course in New South Wales.

The Certificate of Safety Training (CoST) delivered under International STCW 95 +10 requirements is approved from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), ensuring the course meets national and international standards for safety and competency at sea.

This new approval reinforces the commitment of both Superyacht Crew Academy and Sydney Maritime Institute to delivering high-quality, compliant maritime education tailored to the needs of the superyacht and commercial maritime sectors.

The AMSA-approved CoST STCW course equips crew with essential safety knowledge and practical skills required to work on commercial vessels, including superyachts, both domestically and internationally. Training will be delivered by experienced maritime professionals using industry aligned facilities and teaching practices.

“This AMSA approval to deliver the STCW Certificate of Safety Training is a significant milestone for our organisation and for maritime workforce development in New South Wales. It means seafarers can now complete internationally recognised safety training locally, to the highest regulatory and industry standards”, said Director Greg Newby.

“We are extremely proud to be approved to deliver STCW training on behalf of AMSA. Representing Australia’s national maritime regulator carries a high level of responsibility, and we are committed to upholding the safety, quality and compliance standards that AMSA expects and the maritime industry relies on.”

Course availability and enrolment details will be announced directly through the Superyacht Crew Academy and Sydney Maritime Institute channels.
